Colloquium on the European Regulation of Detention, the Right of Detainees for Extradition, the Right to Personal Contacts, and Extradition Proceedings
The colloquium on the European regulation of the detention of persons, the right to defence of detainees for extradition, the right to personal contacts, and extradition proceedings took place inSofia on 24 April 2015. The event was part of the series of five colloquia on various topics of the acquis communautaire with lecturers from the International Association of Lawyers (UIA), as a result of the agreement between the Sofia Bar Association and the UIA.
Lecturer at the colloquium was Jasvinder Nakhwal, Partner in Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP, London, Member of the UIA Criminal Law Commission and an expert of extensive practical experience in extradition cases involving citizens of EU Member States and citizens of other countries which are not members of the Community.
The lecture was opened by Grozdan Dobrev, Partner, UIA National Representative for Bulgaria and Member of the UIA Governing Board. The discussion covered topical issues of the European Arrest Warrant, the related proceedings and legal framework, criticisms and others, followed by the European Investigation Order and the extradition proceedings in the EU after the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon, the organization and activities of Interpol and Europol and a number of other practical matters.
