Conference on the Rule of Law, the Judicial Reform in Bulgaria and Alternative Dispute Resolution

A judicial conference on the rule of law, the judicial reform in Bulgaria and alternative dispute resolution took place in the recently refurbished Auditorium 272 of Sofia University on 14 May 2015. The event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Confindustria Bulgaria brought together Members of Parliament, diplomats, the members of the Supreme Judicial Council, incumbent and former cabinet ministers, judges, and lawyers. The representative of the law firm at the forum was Gergana Ilieva, attorney-at-law.

Minister of Justice Hristo Ivanov, the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Lozan Panov, the Constitutional Judge Rumen Nenkov, and the judge in the Supreme Court of Cassation Borislav Belazelkov took part in the conference. The discussion was focused on the initiative to amend the Constitution, the division of the Supreme Judicial Council into chambers, the direct election of SJC members by the magistrates, all of them issues concerning the judicial reform. The second part of the event was dedicated to alternative dispute resolution.
