Conference “Challenges before the legal profession, stemming from the EU digitalization program”
On 22.06.2018 was held a conference, organized by the Bulgarian Supreme bar council, on the topic of digitalization and the role of the attorney in the upcoming changes in all aspects of economy. Speakers at the conference were the Bulgarian European commissioner Maria Gabriel, who is responsible exactly for this key aspect of EU policy, as well as the Bulgarian Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsatcheva, the chairman of the Parliament’s legal commission Danail Kirilov and Attorney-at-Law Ralitsa Negentsova – chairman of the Bulgarian Supreme bar council. The attendants were addressed also by Michele Lucherini, president of the Federation of European bars (FBE), Margarita countess von Galen, vice-president of the Council of bars and legal societies in Europe (CCBE), Attorney-at-Law Konstantin Dimitrov – member of the Executive committee of the International Union of Lawyers (UIA), Atanas Temelkov – chairman of the State agency “E-government” and Boian Magdalinchev – representative of the Supreme judicial council.
At the conference Dobrev & Lyutskanov Law Firm was represented by Attorneys-at-Law Grozdan Dobrev, Katerina Gramatikova and Lyuben Todev.
The main topics of the conference were the changes in the attorney’s profession in relation to the new means of contact to persons in need of legal defense – as well as the changes in the forms of legal assistance. Such opportunities are provided with regard to the implementation of the requirements for e-identification with Regulation 910/2014 and the entry into force of the obligation for cross-border acknowledgement of e-identification in all EU countries. The topics of intellectual property protection in the course of ever more universal digitalization, as well as the problems posed by the development of artificial intelligence were also discussed.
