AmCham Working Meeting

On 24 February 2016, an official working meeting was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) and the British Bulgarian Business Association (BBBA) to discuss the tax changes related to the new treatment for VAT purposes of the use of goods for personal needs (the so-called “weekend tax”) and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance (FATCA) rules.The law firm was represented by Ms Maria Endreva, Attorney-at-law. Guest speakers were representatives of the National Revenue Agency, including the Methodology Directorate and the Tax Treaties Directorate. The participants reviewed the practical difficulties which businesses encountered in the identification and delimitation of the use of goods for personal needs, as well as the legal opportunities laid down in the legislation.
