Upcoming UIA Seminar in Bulgaria, 25-26.09.2015

On 25 and 26 September 2015, Sofia will host the seminar The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the National Court – the Role of the Lawyer organized by the International Association of Lawyers (Union Internationale des Avocats – UIA), together with the Supreme Bar Council and the Sofia Bar Association.

The event will focus on the discussion of a number of topical issues related to the competence and procedures of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the role of lawyers in its activities, including the model of integrating the EU acquis in the Member States’ national legal systems; the importance of lawyers in the effective exercise of the procedural rights of natural and legal persons in the national case law and its European modernization through a comprehensive knowledge and application of the CJEU procedures and practices, etc.

Speakers at the seminar will be judges from the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, Bulgarian and foreign lawyers with experience in CJEU cases, and academics.

Katerina Gramatikova, Attorney-at-law at DOBREV&LYUTSKANOV Law Firm is one of the speakers at the seminar. The topic of her presentation is The Bulgarian Bar Act on the road to change, which will review the compatibility of the Bulgarian Bar Act with the EU directives providing possibilities for cross-border legal practicing within the EU and the road passed for provision of adequate freedom of establishment to EU lawyers.
