Sustainability Forum Sofia 2014
The Bulgarian Green Building Council (BGBC) organized the international conference Sustainability Forum Sofia 2014 for a fourth year in a row. The event took place at the end of September, as the tradition goes, and it was part of the World Green Building Week.
This year the main topic of the conference, Sustainable Development in the Construction Sector, brought together over 150 participants from European and Bulgarian institutions, various businesses, international investors, representatives of sectoral organizations and the academia.
Rumen Lyutskanov, attorney-at-law, who is a BGBC Board Members was among the speakers at the event, summarizing the main steps for Bulgaria to achieve the objectives set out in the EU Energy Efficiency Directive.
It was for the first time and on the occasion of the fifth anniversary ofthe Bulgarian Green Building Council (BGBC) that annual awards were announced in three major categories. ETEM Group received the award for a company with corporate policy for promotion of green building, Sopharma Business Towers got the award for a sustainable project, and Ms. Tanya Hristova, Mayor of the Municipality of Gabrovo, became the first Bulgarian politician to receive an award for contribution to sustainable construction.
